Technology has made our modern lives easier, and it continues to help us out at work and home with every new update. That said, as technology grows so too does the need for guidance in navigating the new systems.
IT support for computers has been a major concern with PC users, especially when dealing with the high demands of the workplace. Ironically, many of these IT issues are repetitive, and you can even handle some right at the workplace.
As someone who manages the needs of the company, it’s important that you recognize some more simplistic computer issues so you can easily report it to the IT department or fix it yourself. Here’s a short list of things to know.
You May Need IT Support for Your Network Security
One of the most common problems with business computers is that they don’t have enough security to keep them protected. That leaves room for computer errors, and even worse, hackers.
The good news is that new computers come with security features built into the system. The not-so-good news is that these features are a low standard and can leave you susceptible to stronger or more complex breaching software.
To fix this, download software that’s up to date and is powerful enough to protect your company from outside forces waiting to harm your computer.
Computer Is Starting up Too Slow
This is probably the most common problem that IT support faces daily. Luckily, it’s so easy to handle that you could take care of it yourself.
When a computer is starting up slowly, that usually means the processor is trying to open too many files at once. If this is the case, try to find out which files continue to open on startup and uninstall the ones you don’t really need.
If the problem isn’t because of programs opening at startup, then it’s probably because your RAM is full or your computer is too old. In both cases, you could try removing some programs on the computer or buy a new one with more RAM.
The Infamous “Blue Screen of Death” Appears
If you’ve used a computer for a good portion of your life, you’ve almost inevitably run into the “blue screen of death“, or BSOD. It’s never a fun thing to experience, but thankfully it’s usually easy to handle.
The BSOD can occur for several reasons, but most likely it happens when the computer is trying to process too much at once and it crashes. Luckily, even though it looks scary, these screens make it easy to walk through the problem.
The screen usually tells what has happened to the computer to make it crash on the screen. After that, you receive steps to help you get back in again (most people don’t read this before they act, so make sure you do).
Many newer computers complete a reboot process for you automatically, so there really isn’t anything for you to worry about.
